An Adventure of 1.4 Miles. Round Trip.

The distance from Milwaukee, WI to Brussels, Belgium is 4092 miles.  Hence the title of this here little blog.  You may be wondering, “hey lady…this blog is pretty boring, when does this adventure start?”  That’s a great question dear reader and the truth is I haven’t got a f*cking clue.  Theoretically our background checks will arrive tomorrow.  Then we just need my husbands Belgian work permit, a 3-legged unicorn, and a permission slip from Jesus to get our visas.  No big deal.

In the meantime, I hone my stay at home mom skills while the hubby is in Memphis eating BBQ, drinking whiskey and purportedly doing accountant things.  The kiddo and I hit up the park and had some veggie wraps for lunch.  Sadly, that is about all the “adventure” you’re gonna get for now.  So in the interest of keeping up on this whole writing business here are some highlights from our hair-raising Monday morning.

My new boss.  She’s a real tough cookie.  Strict attendance policy that requires me to get up every morning at 6:15 and make her breakfast.  Demands that I color with her at least 3 times a day – generally only allowing me to use the orange crayons.  Sometimes I get to use blue.  Screams and throws herself on the floor at minimum twice a day, usually because her dinner is 4.25 minutes late.  On the bright side her dress code allows for yoga pants and flip flops and she gives super good hugs.

Things got real wild here.  We were walking.  There were yards.  It was crazy.

Hats are required outdoors due to lack of hair.  Sorry poor child for your pasty white skin…just learn to love the smell of sunscreen.

This made me happy so I threw it in here.  Who doesn’t love a smiley-faced log?

These boxes were installed in the early 1900’s for residents to alert the police or fire department of an emergency. There are a lot of them around Milwaukee still, neat little pieces of history.

So there you have it.  I promise in the very near future something more exciting than logs and phone boxes will happen.
